Summerhill Parish Church was formed in 1959 to meet the needs of the growing population of the Summerhill area. At that time the congregation met in a converted barn in what is now Stronsay Crescent.
By 1962, the congregation was so large that three services were required on a Communion Sunday. This led to the building of the present premises as short distance away on Stronsay Drive, which was opened early in 1964. The was designed to reflect the earlier meeting place, with exposed beams and coloured windows transferred from the barn.
The congregation has a reputation for its friendliness and can be relied upon to lay on a good spread at social events! Beneath this, however, lies a deep Christian commitment and a desire to spread the Word of God throughout the parish and beyond.
